Pain in my right ankle

I slipped on a rounded step, my ankle twisted backwards and then finally hit the cement step extremely hard... When I apply weight, move it or even touch it, it hurts like crazy... Could it just be a bruise.. Or is it sprained or even broken. It's been 3 hours since I fell and it's starting to swell alot

Hi

A bruise would not give that sort of pain.

Get yourself to emerg just in case of a break in bone, tendon or ligament. Either will give you that sort of pain. Use crutches if you have them.

Rest it, try to keep off it because excessive walking or movement will irritate it even more.

Place a bag of frozen peas in a cloth, or something similar, over it and then keep on for no longer than 8 mins.

Take pain relieving medication according to your age.

Doing all of this will help whatever the outcome, getting a true diagnosis from medical equipment and hands on testing will sort it all out.

Hope this helps, good luck.
