Why Are Arch Supports Important?
Every one of my friends have them, in their shoes, but they cost a lot of money, do I really need them?
-------------------
Arch supports are meant to fix a biomechanical abnormality, without them the problem becomes worse or, in the future, a problem could exist.
Buying a pair "just because" can do more damage. If they are prescribed to you with no justification then sometimes it is a money making exercise- at $300-500 a pair, they are tempting to prescribe. However we have thrown away some patients orthotics because they have been crippling them, or we have just suggested stretching exercises or even a change in shoe wear. This usually works wonders.
