Now I have heard of people, when they are told to file their nails, to go out and to use cheese wire, drills or a whole range of different tools.

You can file your nails down with a footfile, a shop bought specific footfile.

Now if your nails are thoroughly thick, then a file will not do anything for them because the thickness will not be touched. You really need to see a Chiropodist to get it thinned down for you to manage them properly.

Thinning down the nail with a footfile needs to be done 2-3 times a week, when your nails are nice and dry- which most people forget. Go over your nails rather than across and that will keep them down to a manageable level.
